Enrico Rutz, born in 1962, grew up in a Rhine valley community of eastern switzerland.
He is a self-taught artist who, since childhood, was not to be separated from his Pen and paper.
"When i was peeled gently but firmly from the drawing board in kindergarten and forced into the playgroup, the unfiltered rage broke loose". (laughs)
So it went during the scool years to follow, as the promotion of art and design was
presented as a hobby or "labor of love" rather than a vocation.
His maternal grandfather, who unfortunately died prematuraly in 1969 after an
accident at work, recognized early on the creative potential of his grandson and is considered his first mentor. The last evidence of this period, some drawings and small sculptures, were together with works of later years at a warehouse when, in the absence
of their creator, they were accidentally discarded, so that only fragments of his early work
The artist went trough school in the classic career path of a craftsman and was
trained to become a bricklayer after a multi-faceted Mechanics' apprendiceship. In the
following years, he devoted himself intirely to that craft, becomming proficient in welding, gypsum and drywall, finally in the art of tile laying, in which, due to its artistic components, he still involved to this day.
Betwenn 1986-1990, the all-rounder stayed afloat with some noteworthy successes as a singer and lyricist in a spectacular rock band called "b4nothing".
During the year an a half he studied anatomy, as a part of his training to be certified
Medical Massagist FA SRK (2003-2005), he understood the artistic advantage that studying the human form and its structure offered, and it once again lured him back to his art.
Despite the many branches on the road of his life, he never let go of his love of art, and over the years has produced many works in acrylic on canvas.
From 2005 until today, the artist has delved more deeply than ever into his artistic development and works with a variety of Mixed Media in acrylic, alabaster, terracotta,
wood and stone.
